Generative AI - Would it be used for good?
While GPT has the potential to revolutionize industries of marketing & media, there are also concerns about potential misuse. Experts in AI field have warned about the potential dangers of Generative Artificial Intelligence.
Developers can use large language models to generate code snippets, which in turn produce several risks:
Poor performance generated code.
Not adhere to best practices / coding standards.
Reducing developers skills overtime by too relying on the generated code and not fully understanding how it meets the requirements of the project.
Doctors or healthcare professionals might use generative AI to produce medical diagnoses, which may produce biased or inaccuracies in the resulted diagnoses.
Advice which is unethical or illegal could be produced by generative AI, which would result in legal or reputational risks for both specialists and clients.
Uniqueness in AI-generated artwork is still debatable. If writers or comedians rely too heavily on the generated content, they may not develop their own unique style or voice. This could result in creative work that is generic or unoriginal.
⚠️ An open letter calling all AI labs to immediately paused for at least 6 months of the training of AI systems, a.k.a. "AI summer" is already signed by Elon Musk, and more than 5,000 leaders.
